Health, care and community

Not for profit marketing that makes every dollar count

Not for profit marketing for Australian community organisations: stories that move donors and volunteers, and reporting your board can follow.

Partnership plans from $4,500 + GST a month

Not for profits

Not for profit marketing for organisations with many audiences

Rock Solid Marketing plans and runs marketing for not for profit and community organisations across Australia, from our office in Mildura. You speak to more audiences than most businesses: the people you help, donors, volunteers, funders, your board and the local media. Each wants something different from the same small team.

Usually the marketing falls to whoever has a spare hour, and it shows. A clear plan, a consistent brand and a few well-told stories go further than posting every day.

Partnership plans start from $4,500 + GST a month. The first step is a free 30-minute discovery call.

Common problems

What gets in the way, and how we fix it

  1. Our marketing depends on a volunteer with a spare evening.

    What we do

We take on the planning and production, so your staff and volunteers supply the stories and approvals, not the design work.

  2. The board and our funders want to see what the marketing achieves.

    What we do

A HubSpot dashboard and a monthly report show reach, enquiries, sign-ups and donations by channel, in a format you can paste into a board paper.

  3. Every program looks like it comes from a different organisation.

    What we do

One brand and style guide, then templates for flyers, posts and reports, so a new program launch still looks like you.

  4. We need to launch a program in a new town with no budget to waste.

    What we do

We plan the launch around local media, community events and partners already trusted there, as we did for GreenConnect's programs across the Loddon Mallee.

What's in the plan

Not for profit digital marketing, plus the offline work

Websites, social media, PR, design and email from one team, planned around your programs and funding cycles.

A digital strategy for your mission

We map each audience, from donors to volunteers to funders, against your programs and budget, then pick the few channels that will do the most.

A website that does three jobs

Explain your services, recruit volunteers and take donations or enquiries. We build sites to WCAG 2.2 AA, which matters when your audience includes people with disability.

Impact stories, told with care

Short stories from the people you help, shared only with their consent and in their own words where possible. Funders and donors respond to people, not percentages.

Local media and launches

New programs, milestones and events are pitched to local press. Our PR team also writes award submissions that put your work in front of judges.

Templates your team can reuse

Branded flyer, poster and report templates, so staff can produce the everyday material without starting from scratch.

Reporting for boards and funders

Results by channel in a HubSpot dashboard, reviewed at a monthly meeting and ready to drop into your funding reports.

Who it’s for

Is it the right fit?

Who it’s for

  • Charities and community service organisations
  • Community-owned health and aged care providers
  • Sporting, arts and event associations
  • Member bodies and joint organisations

Not a fit

  • Organisations wanting tax-deductibility claims without DGR status
  • Anyone wanting fundraising totals promised
  • Groups needing a free or volunteer agency

Our community work

Marketing not for profit organisations, with care for every claim

We run the marketing partnership for Princes Court, a community-owned aged care provider in Mildura. We also supported the launch of GreenConnect's nature-based dementia respite programs across Mildura, Bendigo, Heathcote and Merbein. We've worked with Sunraysia Residential Services and on community events such as the Walking Hockey Festival Sunraysia.

Not for profit claims need extra care. Only organisations with Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status can tell donors their gifts are tax deductible, so we check before writing it. Stories about clients are shared with consent.

  • DGR status checked before any tax claim
  • Client stories shared with consent
  • No fundraising totals promised
  • Reports ready for boards and funders
  • Brand templates your team can reuse

Honest stories, careful claims, clear reporting.

Our partnership plans start from $4,500 + GST a month for 28 hours of strategy, content, social media, PR and reporting. Standard is $5,500 + GST a month and Advanced is $7,500 + GST a month. Ad spend is extra. If a brand refresh or a single campaign is all you need, we'll tell you before we quote.

List your audiences first: the people you help, donors, volunteers, funders and partners. Write down what you need from each, then pick the channels each one already uses. Set one or two measures per audience, such as volunteer sign-ups or monthly donors, and review them every month.

Most market themselves through stories, community presence and partnerships rather than big ad budgets. They share the people they help, with consent, run events, work with local media and keep supporters informed by email. NFP marketing works best when every program speaks with the same brand and voice.

Marketing techniques help not-for-profits reach the right people for each goal, at a lower cost per result. Clear messaging lifts donations and volunteer sign-ups. Tracking shows funders what their money achieved. Even simple steps, such as a consistent brand or a welcome email for new supporters, make a measurable difference.

Yes, not for profit organisations can and should market, as long as their claims are accurate. Australian Consumer Law applies to what they say, and only organisations with DGR status can tell donors gifts are tax deductible. Marketing isn't a waste of donor money when it brings in more support than it costs.

In the not for profit sector, marketing is aimed at support, participation and trust rather than sales. It's used to recruit volunteers, attract donors and members, tell funders about outcomes and let people know a service exists. The same tools apply as in business: websites, social media, email, PR and design.

No, we work with community organisations of many sizes, from a community-owned aged care provider to a regional sporting festival. What matters is having a clear goal and someone who can approve the work. Whether you need a non profit digital agency every month or help with one campaign, we'll say which suits you.

Look for a non profit marketing agency that understands boards, funders and volunteers, not just customers. Ask how it reports results and handles consent for client stories. A good nonprofit digital marketing agency will also tell you when free tools or volunteers can do the job instead.
