Google Ad Grants that keep paying their way

Rock Solid Marketing manages Google Ad Grants for Australian charities: we set up the account, write the search ads and keep it within Google's rules. It's part of our not for profit marketing.

Ad Grants gives eligible charities free search advertising on Google. The catch is the rules. Accounts need conversion tracking, relevant keywords and ads people actually click, and Google can pause an account that falls short. Many grants sit unused because nobody on staff has time to run them.

Ad Grants management sits inside our partnership plans, from $4,500 + GST a month. The first step is a free 30-minute discovery call.

Common problems

What gets in the way, and how we fix it

  1. We were approved for the grant but barely use it.

    What we do

We build campaigns around the searches people make for your services, volunteering and donations, so the grant gets spent on clicks that matter.

  2. Google paused our account and we don't know why.

    What we do

We check the account against Google's Ad Grants policy, fix what's out of line, and keep it compliant month by month.

What we do

Grant management, month by month

Set up properly, run steadily and reported in a way your board understands.

Help with the application

We walk you through the Google for Nonprofits steps and the Ad Grants activation, using your charity's own details and accounts. Google makes the decision.

Campaigns built on real searches

Keywords for your services, programs, volunteering and donations, grouped into campaigns that match how people search, not just your organisation's name.

Conversion tracking that counts

Donations, enquiries, volunteer sign-ups and newsletter subscriptions tracked in Google Analytics, so you can see what the grant achieves.

Kept within the rules

Monthly checks against Google's Ad Grants policy: keyword quality, click-through rates, account structure and the landing pages ads point to.

Pages worth landing on

Ads only work if the page answers the search. We tidy or write the landing pages the grant sends people to.

Reporting for your board

A monthly summary of clicks, conversions and what changed, written for a board paper rather than an advertising specialist.

How it works

How a partnership runs

Every partnership starts with a strategy, then runs month by month with one plan and one point of contact.

  1. Free discovery call

A free 30-minute call about your business, your goals and whether a partnership is the right fit.

  2. Strategy and roadmap

We get to know your goals, customers, challenges and opportunities, then give you a practical marketing roadmap.

  3. Monthly delivery

Your account manager runs the plan each month across the channels it needs, from social media and SEO to email and press releases.

  4. Meet and report

A monthly meeting by phone or visit, with a HubSpot dashboard that shows what the work is achieving.

How the grant works

Google Ad Grants for nonprofits, in plain words

Google Ad Grants is part of Google for Nonprofits. Google says eligible charities can receive up to US$10,000 a month of search advertising, shown on Google search results as text ads. In Australia, charities apply through Google for Nonprofits using their charity registration, and Google decides who qualifies.

Keeping the grant takes steady work: tracked conversions, relevant keywords and ads that earn clicks. We handle that as a Google Ad Grants consultant inside your partnership plan, alongside your website, social media and email.

  • Application steps guided, decision by Google
  • Campaigns for services, volunteers and donations
  • Conversion tracking set up and checked
  • Monthly policy checks
  • Board-ready monthly reporting

Free clicks, put to work for your mission.

Ad Grants management sits inside our partnership plans, from $4,500 + GST a month for 28 hours across your grant account and other channels. The grant itself pays for the search ads. As an estimate, ads-only management is about $2,000 + GST a month. If your grant account only needs a tidy-up, we'll tell you before we quote.

It gives eligible charities free text ads on Google search results, funded by Google up to a monthly limit. You choose keywords and write ads like any Google Ads account. To keep the grant, the account must follow Google's Ad Grants policy, including conversion tracking and minimum performance standards. People often call them Google Ads grants.

Apply in two steps: first join Google for Nonprofits with your charity's details, then activate Ad Grants from your Google for Nonprofits account. Google checks eligibility, including your charity registration, and reviews your website. We can guide you through each step, but the application and the decision are between your charity and Google.

Small charities get the grant the same way as large ones, as long as they meet Google's eligibility rules. You need a working website with clear information about your cause. Keeping the grant is the harder part for a small team, which is why many hand the monthly management to someone else. Many people search 'Google Ads not for profit' or 'Google grants Australia' to start; Google for Nonprofits is the official route.

Google decides eligibility, so check its current Google for Nonprofits rules before planning around the grant. In Australia, it generally looks for registered charities. Government bodies, hospitals and some other organisations are excluded. We'll help you read the rules, but we can't promise approval. Check again if your organisation's structure changes.

Accounts usually get paused for falling below Google's Ad Grants policy. Common causes are missing conversion tracking, poor click-through rates, overly broad keywords or ads pointing to thin pages. Monthly checks catch most of these early, so the grant keeps running and your team isn't surprised by an email from Google.

Yes, many charities run a paid Google Ads account alongside the grant for things the grant can't do, such as display or YouTube ads. The paid account is billed to you as normal. We plan both together, so they don't compete for the same searches.

Look for a Google Ad Grants consultant who explains the policy plainly and sets up conversion tracking first. They should report what the grant achieved, not just clicks. Ask how they keep accounts compliant month to month. Good grant management should also link the ads to your website and fundraising plans.
