SEO for tradies without a shopfront

SEO for tradies who work from the ute, not a shopfront: rank in the towns and suburbs you drive to, and turn finished jobs into new enquiries.

Part of Marketing for Tradies

SEO for trades

Get found in the towns you drive to

Rock Solid Marketing provides SEO for tradies across Australia, run from our Mildura office. Search engine optimisation (SEO) is the work that gets your business found on Google when someone nearby searches for your trade.

Most trade businesses have no shopfront. You work from home, a yard or a shed, and Google weighs how far a business is from the person searching. So a plumber based on the edge of town can miss the suburbs where most of the work is. We fix that with a proper service area, a page for each job you do, and proof from real jobs in the places you want more of.

SEO plans start from $1,000 + GST a month, with no lock-in contracts. Search is one part of our wider marketing for tradies.

Common problems

What gets in the way, and how we fix it

  1. We’re based out of town, so Google shows the businesses closer to the customer first.

    What we do

We set up your Google Business Profile as a service-area business, then build pages and reviews for the suburbs and towns you actually travel to.

  2. We’ve done years of good jobs, but there’s no sign of them anywhere on our website.

    What we do

We turn finished jobs into short write-ups with your photos, the suburb and the problem you fixed. Each one is fresh proof for customers and for Google.

  3. Lead sites rank above us for our own trade, in our own town.

    What we do

We build the pages, listings and local links that let your own site compete, so the enquiry comes to you instead of being shared around.

What tradie SEO covers

Local SEO for tradies, from Maps to job pages

Every part of the work aims at one result: more enquiries for the jobs and places you want, coming straight to you rather than a lead site.

Service area set up properly

Your Google Business Profile is set up as a service-area business, so your home address stays private and Google sees the suburbs and towns you cover. Photos, services and hours stay current.

Every job becomes proof

Send us a few photos and a line about the job. We turn it into a short write-up naming the suburb, the problem and the fix, which shows customers and Google that you really work there.

A page for each service

Hot water, blocked drains, roof restoration or fencing: each job you want more of gets a page that answers rough cost, timing and what’s involved. Suburb pages come only where you genuinely work.

Listings that match

Your business name, phone number and service area should match across Google, Apple Maps, Bing, your trade association’s member directory and any lead sites you use. Mixed details confuse Google about who you are.

Local links that count

Supplier ‘find an installer’ pages, the footy club you sponsor and local news about your work can all link to your site. We find the genuine ones and ask for them.

A report you can read

Each month you get a Semrush report on rankings and traffic, plus the calls and quote forms that came from Google. Then we talk it through on a review call.

Who it’s for

Is it the right fit?

Who it’s for

  • Service-area tradies who work from home, a yard or a shed
  • Trade businesses covering several towns or a whole region
  • Tradies who rely on lead sites and want enquiries of their own
  • Businesses with a decent website that nobody seems to find

Not a fit

  • You need the phone ringing next week (Google Ads works faster)
  • You want a promised ranking or a set number of jobs
  • You don’t have a website yet: start with a site from $5,000 + GST

How it works

How we run your SEO

SEO is an ongoing process, so the work runs month by month, with a report and a call every time.

  1. Discovery call

A free 30-minute call about your website, your market and the searches your customers make.

  2. Research and set-up

Keyword research, analytics set-up and a technical check of your site, from load speed to robots.txt and sitemaps.

  3. On-page and off-page work

Title tags, meta tags, content editing, internal links and offsite link building, all focused on ranking regionally.

  4. Monthly report and review

A custom report and a personalised review call every month on your rankings, your traffic and what comes next.

How it starts

Choosing an SEO company for tradies: start with an audit

Before we touch anything, we search for your trade on a phone from the suburbs and towns you work in. We note where you show up in Google Maps and in the results below it. Then we audit your Business Profile, your website and the directories that list you.

You get a short plan: the services and places to target first, the pages to write, the listings to fix and the local links worth chasing. Good SEO for tradies starts with the jobs that pay you best, not the busiest search. If a Business Profile tidy-up alone would do the job, we’ll tell you before we quote.

  • Maps positions in the towns you cover
  • Business Profile categories, services and photos
  • Service pages you have and the jobs that are missing
  • Directory listings with mismatched details
  • Speed and mobile problems on your site

Rank where the work is, not where the ute is parked.

We approached Rock Solid Marketing to build our online store for our retail division and to look after our existing website. The professionalism of Sean and his team from day one was incredible, they took the time to sit down with us to discuss our exact requirements and they offered suggestions for the build which would improve the overall running of the store.

The finished result of our online store is nothing short of fantastic- it integrates with our point of sale software, it is very easy to navigate, and presents and operates as a professionally made web store should. Since completion and hand over, the back up support we receive from Rock Solid Marketing is remarkable- nothing is too much trouble and we can contact the team at any time with any questions we may have. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Sean, Janine and the team from Rock Solid Marketing for building or revamping a website, creating an online store to suit your business or with online marketing.

SEO for a trade business with Rock Solid Marketing starts from $1,000 + GST a month, with no lock-in contract. That covers keyword research, service and job pages, technical fixes, link building and a monthly report and review call. One trade in one town needs less work than a team covering a whole region, so we scope your plan after the discovery call.

Expect months, not weeks, and be wary of anyone who names a ranking date. Business Profile fixes and fresh job photos usually lift your Maps visibility first. New service pages take longer, especially against competitors with years of reviews. Your monthly report shows rankings, calls and quote forms, so you can watch the trend yourself.

Yes, though it’s harder than in your own town. Google weighs distance from the searcher, so the Maps results lean towards nearby businesses. Your website can still rank in the regular results for a town you travel to, when it has a genuine page showing jobs you’ve done there. We only build those pages for places you really work.

Yes, if customers never visit you there. Google lets service-area businesses remove the address from their Business Profile and list the areas they serve instead. You keep your privacy and still appear for nearby searches. If you run a showroom or a trade counter that customers walk into, keep the address showing.

Yes. Reviews count towards how prominent Google thinks your business is, and customers read them before they ring. A good moment to ask is when you finish the job. We set up a simple request by text or email that goes to every customer. Filtering out the unhappy ones first is something the ACCC treats as misleading, so we don’t.

You can do the basics yourself: keep your Business Profile current, add job photos and ask every customer for a review. An agency earns its fee on the slower work, such as service pages, technical fixes, listings and links. If you have time for the basics, start there, and call us when they stop being enough.

Over time, usually yes, because SEO brings enquiries that come only to you. Lead sites can fill gaps quickly, but the same job often goes to several businesses and you pay either way. Plenty of tradies keep a lead site running while their own rankings build, then cut back as their own enquiries pick up.

No. There’s no lock-in, and your plan is reviewed with you every month, so you stay only while it’s paying off. Everything we set up is registered to your business: the Business Profile, the Analytics and Search Console accounts, and every page we write. Nothing you paid for leaves with us.
