Healthcare Google Ads

Google Ads for healthcare that stays within the rules

Rock Solid Marketing runs Google Ads for healthcare providers across Australia, from clinics and community health services to aged care and respite, with every campaign built around the rules that apply to health ads. Maybe an ad was disapproved and nobody knew why, or a past agency built remarketing lists Google no longer allows for health.

Health ads answer to three sets of rules at once: Google’s own health policies, AHPRA’s guidelines for regulated health services and, for therapeutic goods, the TGA advertising code. We plan campaigns by service and location inside all three. This page is part of our healthcare marketing work.

Partnership plans start from $4,500 + GST a month, and ad spend is paid to Google. If your Google Business Profile will bring more patients than ads right now, we’ll tell you before we quote.

Common problems

What gets in the way, and how we fix it

  1. Google keeps disapproving our ads and we can’t work out which policy we’ve broken.

    What we do

We check each ad and landing page against Google’s healthcare and medicines policy before it runs, and fix or appeal disapprovals with you.

  2. A past agency wanted to retarget people who visited our condition pages.

    What we do

Google’s personalised advertising policy doesn’t allow targeting people by health condition, so we build audiences on services and locations instead.

  3. We can see clicks but not which service brought the enquiry.

    What we do

We track each form, call and booking by service, recording that an enquiry happened without sending anyone’s health details to Google.

How we run it

Healthcare Google Ads built for regulated services

Health is one of Google’s most tightly controlled ad categories, so in Google Ads for healthcare clinics and services, policy checks come before creative ideas.

Copy checked against policy

Before an ad runs we check it against Google’s healthcare and medicines policy and AHPRA’s guidelines: no outcome claims, no clinical testimonials and no prescription medicine names.

Campaigns by service and place

Each service and location gets its own campaign and budget, so a busy clinic and a quiet one aren’t fighting over the same money.

Audiences Google allows

Google doesn’t allow ads targeted at people by health condition. We reach people through what they search and where they live, not who Google thinks is unwell.

Privacy-safe tracking

Health information is sensitive information under the Privacy Act 1988. Tracking records that a form was sent or a call was made, never what someone wrote.

Landing pages that match

Google reviews your landing pages too. Each campaign lands on a page that explains the service, who it’s for and how to book, with your policies linked.

Enquiries by service

The monthly report shows spend and enquiries for each service and location, so you know which programs your ads are actually filling.

How it works

How a partnership runs

Every partnership starts with a strategy, then runs month by month with one plan and one point of contact.

  1. Free discovery call

A free 30-minute call about your business, your goals and whether a partnership is the right fit.

  2. Strategy and roadmap

We get to know your goals, customers, challenges and opportunities, then give you a practical marketing roadmap.

  3. Monthly delivery

Your account manager runs the plan each month across the channels it needs, from social media and SEO to email and press releases.

  4. Meet and report

A monthly meeting by phone or visit, with a HubSpot dashboard that shows what the work is achieving.

Healthcare search engine marketing

How healthcare search engine marketing starts with us

We start with your services and your capacity: which programs have room, where your clients live and who can take the calls. Then we review your account, tracking and landing pages against the rules before spending another dollar.

You approve every ad and page before launch, and your organisation stays responsible for its own compliance. Each month Callen Mowatt, our Google Ads Specialist, reviews search terms and policy notices, and your account manager walks you through enquiries by service.

  • Services and capacity mapped first
  • Ads and pages checked against policy
  • Tracking that keeps health details out
  • Every ad approved by you
  • Policy notices watched each month

Ads that run, and keep running.

Our management sits in partnership plans from $4,500 + GST a month for 28 hours, with Standard at $5,500 + GST and Advanced at $7,500 + GST a month. Ad spend is paid to Google on top, and you set it per service. If you only want your current account checked, a Google Ads audit is billed at $175 + GST an hour.

Yes, most health services can advertise on Google, but with limits. Google’s healthcare and medicines policy restricts some products and treatments, and some need certification first. Prescription-only medicines can’t be advertised to the public in Australia under TGA rules, and regulated health services must follow AHPRA’s advertising guidelines.

Most disapprovals come from naming restricted medicines or treatments, making health claims Google can’t verify, or a landing page that breaks policy. Sometimes it is simply a word Google’s systems flag. We read the policy notice, fix the ad or the page, and appeal when we think Google got it wrong.

Only in limited ways. Google’s personalised advertising policy doesn’t allow ads that target people based on health conditions, so remarketing lists built from condition or treatment pages are off limits. General audiences, such as people who visited your contact page, may still be allowed. We check each audience against the current policy before using it.

We track the action, not the content. A conversion records that a form was sent or a call was made, and no names, symptoms or health details go to Google. Under the Privacy Act 1988, your privacy policy should also say that you use advertising and analytics tracking. We check both before launch.

They are worth it when you have capacity in a service that people search for, such as a clinic with open appointments or a program with places. Search ads reach people at the moment they look for help. They are less useful when you are fully booked or when your services mainly come through referrals.

Look for a Google Ads agency for healthcare providers that knows Google’s health policies, AHPRA and the TGA code, sets the account up in your name and reports enquiries by service. Ask how they handle disapprovals and privacy in tracking. The best Google Ads agency for healthcare won’t promise patient numbers or outcomes.

Your organisation owns the Google Ads account, set up in its name. If you leave, the campaigns, history and audiences stay with you. Our partnership plans have no lock-in contracts, so you stay because the monthly report shows the ads filling the services you need filled.
