Retail marketing that brings people back through the door

Rock Solid Marketing plans and runs retail marketing for independent shops and multi-location retailers across Australia, from our office on Deakin Avenue in Mildura. Your customers decide on their phone, then walk in.

They check your hours on Google, look at your photos and reviews, and see whether you stock the thing before they get in the car. Then the window, the counter and the receipt decide whether they come back. We market both halves: the search before the visit and the experience after it.

Our partnership plans start from $4,500 + GST a month, beginning with a free 30-minute discovery call. If a tidy Google Business Profile and some fresh window posters will do more than a monthly plan, we'll tell you before we quote.

Common problems

What gets in the way, and how we fix it

  1. People drive past because Google shows old hours or the wrong photos.

    What we do

We keep your Google Business Profile current: holiday hours, products, photos, posts and a reply to every review. The shop people find online is then the one they walk into.

  2. Trade goes quiet between the big retail dates.

    What we do

We build a local calendar around your town: school holidays, local events, paydays and the weather, with offers planned for the slow weeks.

  3. Customers buy once and the till never captures who they were.

    What we do

We set up a loyalty or VIP sign-up at the counter, linked to your point of sale where it allows. Then we send email and SMS offers to the people who joined.

  4. Sale signs make promises the stock can't keep.

    What we do

Was/now prices, clearance claims and up-to discounts must be true under the Australian Consumer Law. We check every price claim against your records before it goes in an ad or a window.

  5. Each store in the group markets itself differently.

    What we do

For retailers with several locations, we build one plan with a page and a Google profile for each store. Head office controls the brand, and each manager keeps local offers.

What we do for retailers

In-store marketing and online, working together

Retail channel marketing joins your ads, Google profile, shop window and counter, so every offer tells customers the same story wherever they meet it.

Found on Google Maps

Your Google Business Profile, product listings and reviews, kept current every week. If you don't have a profile yet, setting one up is $500 + GST, and we look after it within your plan.

Windows and shelf talkers

Window posters, counter cards, shelf talkers and QR codes that match your ads and lead to a sign-up page. Our designers keep every piece on brand, from the footpath to the till.

Local area marketing

A calendar built around your town's own dates: school holidays, show days, sporting finals and harvest or tourist seasons. Each one gets an offer, a post and an ad aimed at people nearby.

Loyalty, email and SMS

A sign-up at the counter feeds a list you own. Customers who opted in get birthday offers, new stock alerts and event invites, with an opt-out in every message.

Check stock online

Many customers want to see what's on the shelf before they drive in. We build Shopify and WooCommerce stores linked to your point of sale, from $6,000 + GST.

Ads with a radius

Google and Meta ads shown only to people within driving distance, timed to your trading hours. Social ads management starts from $2,000 + GST a month plus 10% of ad spend.

Reports by store

One monthly report with calls, direction requests, website visits and sign-ups for each location, so you can see which store and which campaign is pulling its weight.

Who it’s for

Is it the right fit?

Who it’s for

  • Independent shops on the main street
  • Retailers with a shopfront and an online store
  • Small chains with 2 or more locations
  • Homewares, gift, outdoor, workwear and trade supply stores
  • Food and drink producers getting onto local shelves

Not a fit

  • Shops that want fake reviews or sale prices that aren't real
  • National chains with an in-house marketing department
  • A retailer that only needs one flyer: design work is $175 + GST an hour

How it starts

Your plan starts at the till, not the ad

We start with what your point of sale already knows: your busiest days and hours, the products people come in for, and what they add at the counter. We also check your Google profile to see how many people call or ask for directions.

From that we write a retail marketing plan for the next quarter. It names the products to push, the slow weeks to fill, the in-store material and the channel for each message. You approve the offers and the prices before anything is printed or posted.

  • Busiest days, hours and products
  • What people add at the counter
  • Calls and direction requests from Google
  • Slow weeks and the offers to fill them
  • In-store material and ads you approve

Market the weeks that need it.

We approached Rock Solid Marketing to build our online store for our retail division and to look after our existing website. The professionalism of Sean and his team from day one was incredible, they took the time to sit down with us to discuss our exact requirements and they offered suggestions for the build which would improve the overall running of the store.

The finished result of our online store is nothing short of fantastic- it integrates with our point of sale software, it is very easy to navigate, and presents and operates as a professionally made web store should. Since completion and hand over, the back up support we receive from Rock Solid Marketing is remarkable- nothing is too much trouble and we can contact the team at any time with any questions we may have. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Sean, Janine and the team from Rock Solid Marketing for building or revamping a website, creating an online store to suit your business or with online marketing.

All FAQs

Partnership plans for retailers start from $4,500 + GST a month for 28 hours. Standard is $5,500 + GST and Advanced is $7,500 + GST, and ad spend and printing are extra. A single shop that mainly needs local ads can start with social ads management from $2,000 + GST a month plus 10% of ad spend. The spend itself is paid to Meta.

In-store marketing is everything that sells to customers once they're inside: window displays, shelf talkers, counter cards, product placement, staff recommendations and the receipt. It works best when it repeats the offer people saw online, so the ad, the window and the shelf say the same thing. A QR code on the counter can turn a one-off visitor into a subscriber.

Yes, for short, timely messages to customers who asked for them. New stock, a weekend event or a birthday offer suits a text, while long newsletters don't. Collect consent at the counter or online, name your shop in each message and include an opt-out, as the Spam Act 2003 requires. Keep texts occasional so people don't unsubscribe.

Local area marketing is marketing aimed at the people within driving distance of one store. It uses the town's own calendar and media: local events, school holidays, sporting clubs, community groups and ads shown only nearby. It's one of the retail marketing strategies that suits a chain well, because each location gets its own local plan inside one brand.

Get it tasted, then get it found. In-store tastings and shelf displays win the first purchase, and a Google Business Profile and social posts show people where to buy it. Labels and health claims must follow the Food Standards Code (Standard 1.2.7 covers health claims), which stays your responsibility. We market the product within those rules.

They use it to remember customers. A point-of-sale system records what people buy. An email platform such as Klaviyo or Campaign Monitor sends offers based on it, and a dashboard such as HubSpot reports what each campaign earned. The software matters less than the connections, so your shop's sales data actually reaches your marketing.

Choose software that lets head office control the brand while each store manages its own details. Check that it handles every Google Business Profile in one place, sends local offers by store and reports by location. We don't sell software, so we'll recommend what fits your stores and point of sale, including tools you already pay for.

Mostly, more customers through the door without wasted money. In our experience shop owners want three things: to be found on Google, to see which offers worked, and to spend less of their own time on marketing. A retail marketing company should report in sales and visits, not likes, and say so when a simple fix beats a bigger plan.

No. Partnership plans have no lock-in contracts, so you can add hours before Christmas and ease off in the quiet months. Your account manager is your one contact, and the whole team works behind them. Consultations at our Mildura office by booking, and by phone or video for retailers elsewhere in Australia.
