Web Design

Retail website design that works with your counter

Retail website design for shops that sell in store and online: your range, stock and opening hours online, with click and collect that works.

Part of Retail Marketing

Retail website design

Websites for shops, not just online stores

Rock Solid Marketing does retail website design for Australian shops that sell over the counter and online, especially in regional towns. Your customers check your website before they drive in: is it open, do you stock it, can I order and collect? A site that can't answer those questions sends them to a bigger store.

We design the site around your shop. Your range, prices and stock levels shown clearly, click and collect if you want it, and opening hours and specials that bring people through the door. For Exposed Signage and Apparel we built a Shopify store with workwear, urban wear and footwear categories. This page is part of our retail marketing work.

Website packages start from $5,000 + GST, and online stores from $6,000 + GST. Your first step is a free 30-minute discovery call.

Common problems

What gets in the way, and how we fix it

  1. The website says you stock something the shelf ran out of last month.

    What we do

We connect the online store to your stock system where it allows, or keep the range simple enough for your team to update in minutes.

  2. People ring to ask if you're open or if something's in stock.

    What we do

Your hours, holiday hours and stock status sit on every product page and in your Google profile, so customers get the answer before they call.

  3. You sell retail and trade, and one price list confuses both.

    What we do

We set up trade accounts with their own prices and login, while retail customers see your normal prices.

What we build

A retail store website your team can run

Every feature is chosen for how shops actually sell: in person, by phone and online, often on the same day.

Online store or catalogue

A full online store with checkout, or a catalogue that shows your range and prices without selling online. You choose what suits your shop.

Click and collect

Customers order online and pick up in store, with a clear message when the order is ready. It's often the easiest first step into online sales.

Stock that matches the shelf

Where your point-of-sale system allows, stock and prices sync with the website. Otherwise we keep updating simple for your staff.

Built for phones

Most shoppers browse on a phone, often in the car park. Product pages load fast, photos are clear and checkout takes a few taps.

Opening hours and directions

Hours, holiday hours, parking and a map on every page, matched to your Google Business Profile, so nobody arrives to a locked door.

Accessible to every customer

We build to WCAG 2.2 AA, so customers using screen readers, keyboards or large text can browse and buy too.

How it works

From the first call to launch day

Four stages, with your feedback built in before anything goes live.

  1. Discovery call

A free 30-minute call to scope your pages, features and budget against our website packages.

  2. Design and feedback

We design the site around your brand and content, with rounds of feedback along the way. Essentials includes three rounds.

  3. Build and launch

We build on a content management system you can update yourself, set up the search basics and test the site on phones and desktops.

  4. Hosting and care

Keep the site secure and up to date with Australian hosting from $400 + GST a year and a care plan from $275 + GST a month (minimum 6 months).

How it starts

Retail website development starts in your shop

We start with how you sell today: what moves over the counter, what people ring about, which products sell online and how stock is tracked. Then we decide whether you need a full store, a catalogue or click and collect.

From there we design the pages, set up products and payments, and train your team to update them. If your point-of-sale system connects to Shopify or WooCommerce, we link it; if not, we keep the range lean so it stays accurate.

  • How you sell today, mapped
  • Store, catalogue or click and collect chosen
  • Stock and point-of-sale options checked
  • Product photos and categories planned
  • Staff trained to update products

Show what's on the shelf, sell what's in stock.

We approached Rock Solid Marketing to build our online store for our retail division and to look after our existing website. The professionalism of Sean and his team from day one was incredible, they took the time to sit down with us to discuss our exact requirements and they offered suggestions for the build which would improve the overall running of the store.

The finished result of our online store is nothing short of fantastic- it integrates with our point of sale software, it is very easy to navigate, and presents and operates as a professionally made web store should. Since completion and hand over, the back up support we receive from Rock Solid Marketing is remarkable- nothing is too much trouble and we can contact the team at any time with any questions we may have. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Sean, Janine and the team from Rock Solid Marketing for building or revamping a website, creating an online store to suit your business or with online marketing.

Our website packages start from $5,000 + GST for up to 5 pages. Online stores with a cart and payment gateway start from $6,000 + GST. Both can be paid over 6 months. If a simple catalogue with click and collect will do the job, we'll tell you before we quote.

After the build, budget for hosting, your platform subscription, payment fees and any paid apps. Our hosting starts from $400 + GST a year, and Shopify charges its own monthly subscription. Care plans for updates and security start from $275 + GST a month with a 6-month minimum.

A retail website is a retailer's own website. It shows your range, prices and store details, and often lets customers buy online or order for pickup. For shops with a door, it's also how people check opening hours and stock before they visit, so it works alongside the counter rather than replacing it.

Decide what it needs to do first: sell online, show a catalogue or handle click and collect. Then choose a platform such as Shopify or WooCommerce, plan your categories, take good product photos, set up payments and delivery, and test checkout on a phone before launch.

Start with your best sellers rather than every product. Set up categories that match your shelves, connect your point-of-sale system if it allows, add your hours and pickup details, and train one or two staff to keep it current. Grow the range online once the basics are working.

Yes. Trade customers can have their own login, prices and order minimums, while retail shoppers see standard prices. It keeps one site and one stock list, which is simpler than running two. We set up the rules with you and test both checkouts before launch.

Clear categories, good product photos, prices, stock status, fast checkout on a phone, opening hours and directions. Add click and collect if you have a shop, and simple returns and delivery information. Ask which design works best for a shop and the answer is usually the one that answers questions fastest.

Start with your Google Business Profile and product pages that match what people search for. Then email past customers who opted in, post new stock on social media and run ads for your best sellers. Your shop counter helps too: put the web address on receipts and bags.
