Restaurant website design that keeps up with the kitchen

Restaurant website design for Australian restaurants that want a site the kitchen can update, with the menu, hours and booking link easy to find.

Restaurant website design for menus that change

Rock Solid Marketing designs and builds websites for restaurants across Australia, from our office in Mildura. We plan websites for restaurants around the page diners open first: the menu, with prices, dietary notes and the booking link right beside it.

Your menu changes with the season, the supplier and the chef. A PDF uploaded two menus ago tells diners nobody's minding the details, and Google can't read it well. We set your menu up as a simple page you can edit yourself, so the website changes the same day the kitchen does.

Packages start at $5,000 + GST for up to 5 pages, and you can pay over 6 months at $833 + GST. Every restaurant starts with a free 30-minute discovery call. If fixing the menu page on your current site is enough, we'll say so before we quote.

Common problems

What gets in the way, and how we fix it

  1. Your menu is a scanned PDF that's slow to open on a phone.

    What we do

We rebuild it as a text page with sections, prices and dietary tags, so it opens fast and reads well on any screen.

  2. Diners can't find the booking link, so they ring in the middle of service.

    What we do

A booking button sits in the header on every page and links to the booking system you already use.

  3. Dietary questions take up your floor staff's time every night.

    What we do

Each dish carries clear dietary notes (vegetarian, vegan, gluten free) and the menu carries your allergen statement. Your kitchen stays responsible for what the notes say.

What goes on a restaurant site

Restaurant web design for the phone in a diner's hand

A restaurant website has a short list of jobs: show the food, show the menu, show the hours and take the booking or the order.

The menu, front and centre

Lunch, dinner, drinks and kids' menus as text pages with prices and dietary notes. You edit them like a document, and search engines can read every dish on them.

Bookings and orders connected

We link or embed the booking or online ordering system you already use, so tables and orders stay in one place. Private dining gets its own short enquiry form.

Food photos that sell the dish

Diners choose with their eyes. We plan a photo list around your signature dishes and your dining room, and lay out the site so the food leads. Shoots are priced to the job.

Built for 6pm on a phone

The address, phone number and opening hours sit within reach on every page, with tap-to-call and directions. Pages stay light so they load quickly on mobile data.

A site that feels like your room

Your colours, type and photos carried across every page. Capogreco Winery Estate's site, for example, puts six generations of family winemaking ahead of the wine list.

How it works

From the first call to launch day

Four stages, with your feedback built in before anything goes live.

  1. Discovery call

A free 30-minute call to scope your pages, features and budget against our website packages.

  2. Design and feedback

We design the site around your brand and content, with rounds of feedback along the way. Essentials includes three rounds.

  3. Build and launch

We build on a content management system you can update yourself, set up the search basics and test the site on phones and desktops.

  4. Hosting and care

Keep the site secure and up to date with Australian hosting from $400 + GST a year and a care plan from $275 + GST a month (minimum 6 months).

How it starts

Website design for restaurant owners, starting with the menu

We start with your menus, your booking system and the questions your staff answer on the phone. Those questions decide the pages: menus, bookings, private dining, location and parking, and the story behind the place.

You approve the page list and the design before we build. We load your current menus, connect the booking link and test every form and button on a phone before the site goes live.

  • Every current menu and its sections
  • Dietary and allergen notes per dish
  • Your booking or ordering system
  • Private dining and function details
  • Who will edit the menu each season

If the menu is right, the site is working.

Why Your Business Needs A Website

There are so many things to consider when starting your own business. From accounting and tax matters to branding and marketing collateral, it’s hard to know what you really need and what isn’t so essential right away. Whatever you do, don’t hold off on building a website. This is something your business should have as

Our Essentials package is $5,000 + GST for up to 5 pages, which suits most single restaurants: home, menus, bookings, private dining and contact. You can spread it over 6 months at $833 + GST a month. Restaurants with several menus or venues may need Standard, from $6,500 + GST, and an online shop needs E-commerce, from $6,000 + GST.

Yes, though not always a big one. Your Google listing, social pages and booking apps all point back to a website. It's the one place you control the menu, the story and the booking link. A very small restaurant may only need a few pages plus a good Google listing, which is $500 + GST to set up.

Because posts scroll away and platforms change their rules. Your website holds what diners check every time: the current menu, hours, location, dietary notes and the booking link. It also gives Google a page to show for searches about your cuisine and suburb, which social pages aren't built to do.

Gather the content first: every menu, your hours, photos, the booking link and a short story about the place. Then plan the pages, choose a design, build, load the content and test it on a phone. Most delays come from the menu and photos, so we ask for those on day one.

Good web design for restaurant sites starts with the phone and the menu. Put the booking button in the header, keep the hours and address in reach, and place the food photos high on the home page. Use your own colours and type so the site feels like your room, and keep the text short.

You can, with a template builder, if you have time to write, photograph and update it. A restaurant website designer earns the fee when you want the site planned around bookings, built to WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility and handed over ready to edit. We'll tell you honestly which suits you on the discovery call.

Connect the booking system you already use rather than adding a new one. We link or embed it so tables stay in one diary, put the button on every page and test it from a phone before launch. For private dining, a short form collects the date, party size and any budget up front.

A template gives you a layout, while a specialist plans the site around how diners decide and how your kitchen works. That means menus you can edit, booking in the header, accessible pages and a site that loads fast on mobile data. Support after launch is included: 2 weeks on Essentials, 4 on Standard.
