Tristate Tours

Rock Solid Marketing designed and built a new website for Tristate Tours, a small-group Outback tour company in Broken Hill NSW. Its 36 travel posts and WeTravel bookings came across, and every old page address still works.

The objective

What Tristate Tours needed

Tristate Tours needed a new website for its Outback tours without losing what already worked. The 36 travel posts, the tour pages, the WeTravel bookings and every old page address had to carry over.

What we did

The work behind Tristate Tours

  1. A design chosen section by section

10 home page sections in five styles each, and the Tristate team picked one of each

  2. New website on the Rock Solid Marketing CMS

one content management system for every page, tour and post, including 9 tour pages

  3. Content moved across

36 travel posts in 6 Travel Insights categories, and 157 images, each with alt text for screen readers

  4. Bookings and enquiries

the same WeTravel bookings, plus four new enquiry forms feeding a CRM (customer relationship management) workspace for Tristate

  5. Old addresses kept working

24 redirect rules cover the pages that moved, and all 116 old page addresses open the right page

  6. SEO, at launch and ongoing

a search title and description on every page and post, a sitemap, and structured data for search engines

About Tristate Tours

Tristate Tours runs small-group Outback tours from Broken Hill, in the far west of New South Wales. Trips range from Lake Eyre flights to four-wheel-drive tours of Mutawintji, Menindee and Mungo, and sunset tours at the Living Desert sculptures. It is the touring brand of Overland Adventures, which Rock Solid Marketing has worked with before (see the Overland Adventures case study).

One of Tristate’s founders, Janine Gowenlock, is also our Regional Director.

Where the old site stood

The old tristate.com.au ran on WordPress with the Elementor page builder. It held 18 pages, 36 travel posts and 173 images. Most booking buttons went to WeTravel, but some older ones still pointed to Rezdy booking pages that had closed.

Before we changed anything, we listed every page, post, image, form and outside link on the old site. That list became the checklist for the move.

Choosing the look, one section at a time

Instead of one finished mock-up, we designed each home page section in five styles, from vintage travel poster to Outback after dark. The Tristate team picked their favourite version of each section, so the home page came together from their own choices.

The finished look is a warm field guide style with handwritten notes. It carries through every inner page, from the tours to Travel Insights, about and contact.

Moving 36 posts without losing an address

Every travel post moved to the Rock Solid Marketing CMS and now sits in one of 6 Travel Insights categories. Plain typos were fixed on the way, while prices, dates and names stayed exactly as Tristate wrote them. Each of the 157 images we moved has alt text: the short description a screen reader reads aloud.

Old web addresses live on in emails, social posts and other websites, so they had to keep working. We set up 24 redirect rules, which send an old address to its new page. On 23 October 2026 we checked all 116 page addresses from the old site, and each one opened the right page.

Bookings and enquiries

Tristate already took bookings through WeTravel, so the new site keeps the same WeTravel booking buttons, departure calendars and trip list. The old links to closed Rezdy pages now go to the matching tour or the full WeTravel trip list.

The four forms are new: contact, trip enquiry, the Lake Eyre register (a priority list for Lake Eyre trips) and the newsletter sign-up. Each one passes the enquiry to a CRM workspace set up for Tristate, so every lead lands in one place.

Where things stand

Saimul Islam, our Developer & AI expert, built the site between 10 and 22 October 2026, and it is live at tristate.com.au. We also look after Tristate’s SEO on an ongoing basis. Google Analytics went on the site on 22 October 2026. Results (visits, enquiries and bookings) will be added here once there are a few months of figures.

Why it worked

What made the difference

Two decisions made the difference. The Tristate team chose the design themselves, one section at a time, so the site looks like their business rather than a template. And before any content moved, we listed every page, post, image, form and link on the old site. Each one was matched to its new home, and we checked the addresses again after launch.
