Hotel marketing for more direct bookings

Hotel marketing for Australian hotels and motels that want more rooms booked direct, and fewer quiet weeks between the busy ones.

Partnership plans from $4,500 + GST a month

Hotels and motels

Hotel marketing that brings guests to your own booking page

Rock Solid Marketing plans and runs digital marketing for hotels, motels and lodges across Australia, from our office in Mildura. For Out of the Ordinary Outback, we promoted the Broken Hill Outback Resort and the Underground Motel White Cliffs. Our social media, content and search work led to more bookings.

Booking sites fill rooms, but each booking through them costs commission, and the guest's email stays with the site. Some travellers who find you there will look for your own website before they book. Online marketing for hotels makes that visit worth it: a clear rate, real photos and a booking button that works.

Plans start from $4,500 + GST a month on our marketing partnerships, and it all begins with a free 30-minute discovery call. If fixing your booking button and Google listing will do the job, we'll tell you before we quote.

Common problems

What gets in the way, and how we fix it

  1. Most of your bookings come through booking sites, and each one costs commission.

    What we do

We make your own website the easiest place to book, then send search, social and email traffic there, so more guests book direct.

  2. Rooms sit empty midweek and through the shoulder season.

    What we do

We build offers for the quiet weeks (corporate rates, stay-longer deals, event packages) and promote them to the guests most likely to travel then.

  3. Google shows the booking sites' rates for your property, but not your own.

    What we do

Google's free booking links can show your website's rate beside theirs. We help you connect it through your booking engine provider.

  4. Guests check out and never hear from you again.

    What we do

We set up a thank-you email with a review request, then a short note before the next holiday season to guests who agreed to hear from you.

  5. Your listing photos show the rooms from before the last refurbishment.

    What we do

We plan a shoot of the rooms, the views and the extras guests pay for, then refresh your website and every listing at once.

What we do for properties

Hotel and motel marketing, built around direct bookings

Marketing for hotels works best when search, social, email and your booking page all point guests the same way: to a room they can book with you.

A booking page that converts

We check every step from your room pages to the payment screen. Then we fix what slows guests down: unclear rates, missing photos, extra clicks or a button that's hard to find on a phone.

Found for the trip, not just the town

Search work for the reasons people travel: the event, the outback drive, the work site nearby. Out of the Ordinary Outback's website has its own page for corporate and long-term stays.

Social that sells the stay

Posts and reels of the rooms, the pool, the sunset and the town, with offers for the dates you need to fill. For Out of the Ordinary Outback, this kind of content led to more bookings.

Ads timed to travel plans

Google and Meta ads aimed at people planning a trip to your area, run before school holidays and big events. Social ads management costs $2,000 + GST a month, plus 10% of what you spend on ads.

Email to past guests

A thank-you after checkout, a review request and a note before the next holiday season, sent only to guests who opted in. Every message carries an unsubscribe link under the Spam Act 2003.

One look on every listing

One set of photos, one logo and one description across your website, Google listing and booking sites. Warrawong on the Darling's logo and colours carry across its website and social media.

Direct bookings, tracked

Each month you see direct bookings and revenue by channel beside what each channel cost, so you know how much of your occupancy you own. Your account manager takes you through the numbers.

Who it’s for

Is it the right fit?

Who it’s for

  • Independent hotels and motels
  • Outback and regional properties on road trip routes
  • Lodges, resorts and parks with several room types
  • Properties chasing corporate and long-stay guests
  • Owners with several properties in one group

Not a fit

  • Channel and rate management only: we market the property, your channel manager handles rates
  • Properties that want a promised occupancy rate
  • Owners who only need a listing tidy-up: Google Business Profile set-up is $500 + GST

How it starts

A hotel digital marketing agency that starts with your booking data

We start with your bookings, not your ads. We look at where last year's reservations came from, which nights and room types stay empty, and what each booking site costs you in commission. Then we test your own booking path on a phone, the way a guest would.

From that you get a short plan: the quiet periods to target, the guests to aim at and the offers to make. You approve the rates and packages before anything goes live. That's how a digital marketing agency for hotels should work: booking data first, ads second.

  • Bookings by source over the last year
  • Nights and room types that stay empty
  • Commission paid to each booking site
  • Your booking path tested on a phone
  • Offers and packages you approve

Every direct booking is a guest you keep.

All FAQs

Partnership plans start at $4,500 + GST a month for 28 hours. The Standard plan gives 35 hours for $5,500 + GST, and Advanced gives 45 hours for $7,500 + GST. Ad spend is billed by Google and Meta on top. Smaller properties often begin with SEO (from $1,000 + GST a month) or a social media plan (from $1,500 + GST a month).

It's everything that gets a traveller to choose your property and book a room, ideally with you directly. It covers your website and booking engine, search, your Google listing, booking sites, social media, email to past guests and offers for quiet periods. It's measured by direct bookings and occupancy, not likes.

Be visible where travellers plan, then make booking easy. That means a current Google listing, real photos, room pages that answer common questions and a booking button that works on a phone. Then give people reasons to choose you: an event package, a stay-longer rate or a guide to what's nearby.

Remove the reasons guests leave. Show the full price early, keep photos current, cut steps from the booking engine and offer a perk booking sites can't, such as late checkout for direct guests. Then track direct bookings each month, so you can see which change made the difference.

Find out who travels when you're quiet, then build an offer for them. Midweek may suit corporate and trade guests, while shoulder seasons may suit road trippers and event visitors. We promote a package to each group through search, email and targeted ads, and track the rooms each one fills.

Treat it as one plan, not a set of separate jobs. Your website, Google listing, booking sites, social pages and email should tell the same story with the same photos and rates. We plan the year around your busy and quiet periods and set a budget for each channel. Any hotel marketing agency in Australia should show you that plan before spending a dollar.

Give people a reason to visit as well as a place to stay. Promote the events, drives and attractions near you, and show your property as part of that trip. Local PR helps too, with press releases from $1,000 + GST. Out of the Ordinary Outback's website has its own page for group travel to far west NSW.

Sell more to the guests you already have. Promote dinner, drinks, late checkout and room upgrades in the confirmation email and at check-in, and bundle them for special dates. Where alcohol is part of the offer, we follow the ABAC Responsible Alcohol Marketing Code and show it only to adults.

Start with last year's bookings by month, source and room type, then mark the quiet periods. For each one, pick a guest type, an offer and the channels that reach them, with a budget and a target. You approve the plan, and your account manager checks it with you each month against direct bookings.

No. Partnership plans have no lock-in contract, so you can lift your hours before a big season and ease off after it. A dedicated account manager runs the plan with the whole team behind them. Meetings happen monthly, by phone, video or in person at our Mildura office by booking.
