WordPress SEO services for business websites

WordPress SEO services for Australian businesses whose WordPress site should be winning enquiries but sits quietly well down the results.

WordPress and SEO

Where WordPress sites quietly lose rankings

Rock Solid Marketing provides WordPress SEO services for Australian businesses, from our office in Mildura. WordPress is a good platform for SEO, but it leaves a lot to settings and plugins. One box ticked in the wrong place can hide your whole site from Google.

We see the same problems again and again. The "Discourage search engines" box left ticked after launch. Two SEO plugins writing different titles for the same page. A page builder loading scripts on every page, and plugins years out of date. None of it shows on the screen, which is why it can sit there for months.

SEO plans start from $1,000 + GST a month with no lock-in, and the first step is a free 30-minute discovery call.

What we fix

SEO for WordPress, from settings to content

These are the WordPress-specific checks we run first, because each one can hold back every page on your site at once.

Settings that hide your site

Under Settings, Reading, the "Discourage search engines" option asks Google not to index you and switches off the sitemap WordPress builds. We check it first.

One SEO plugin, set up properly

Yoast SEO and All in One SEO both work well, but running two causes clashing titles. We keep one, configure it and fill in the fields for your key pages.

Theme and page builder speed

Heavy themes and builders can load scripts your page never uses. We measure your speed on a phone, then trim images, scripts and plugins that slow it down.

Permalinks and redirects

Clear URLs such as /electrical-repairs/ beat ?p=123. If URLs change, every old address gets a redirect, so links and rankings carry over.

Pages, posts and categories

We tidy thin tag and category archives, fix duplicate pages and make each service page answer one search well, with headings in the right order.

Updates and security

Outdated plugins are a security risk and a speed drag. Our care plans keep WordPress core, themes and plugins updated and backed up.

How it works

How the work runs on your WordPress site

Settings and plugins first, then pages and content, with a check after every plugin update.

  1. Discovery call

A free 30-minute call about your site, the searches you want to win and who looks after it today.

  2. WordPress health check

We review settings, plugins, theme speed, permalinks and Search Console, then list the fixes in order of impact.

  3. Fix and optimise

Our developer makes the technical fixes while we improve titles, content and internal links on your key pages.

  4. Report and review

A monthly report on rankings and enquiries, and a call with your account manager about next steps.

SEO and site care

WordPress search engine optimisation that lasts

Plenty of guides on SEO WordPress settings stop at installing a plugin. In practice, most SEO on WordPress fails slowly, after the work is done. A plugin update breaks a title tag or a new page goes live without a description. That's why our SEO services for WordPress sit alongside our website care plans. Basic care starts from $275 + GST a month, minimum 6 months, and covers updates, backups and security checks.

Lindsay Buckley, our Digital Mastermind, has 15+ years of SEO and WordPress experience. Saimul Islam, our developer, makes theme and code changes. If your site is too old to fix well, we'll tell you before we quote.

  • Settings, Reading and permalinks checked
  • One SEO plugin, configured for your pages
  • Speed tested on a phone, not just a desktop
  • Theme changes by our developer
  • Care plans for updates and backups

SEO that still works after the next plugin update.

Our WordPress SEO services start from $1,000 + GST a month, with no lock-in contract. That covers the SEO work: settings, plugins, content, speed and links. Keeping WordPress updated and backed up is a separate care plan, from $275 + GST a month with a 6-month minimum. You see both prices before anything starts.

Because on WordPress the platform and the SEO affect each other. A plugin update can undo your title tags, a slow theme can drag down rankings and a settings change can hide the site. Having the same team look after both means problems get caught and fixed before they cost you enquiries.

Put your main keyword in the page title, the URL slug, the first paragraph and at least one heading, using the WordPress editor. Write it naturally: once or twice in a short page is plenty. Then use other words customers use for the same thing, rather than repeating one phrase.

Install one SEO plugin, such as Yoast SEO or All in One SEO. Then open the page and fill in its SEO title and meta description fields. Most plugins also have a focus keyword box. WordPress doesn't add a meta description field on its own, so the plugin is what makes this possible.

Yoast SEO and All in One SEO both do the job, so pick one and set it up properly. What matters more is not running two at once, because they can write clashing titles and sitemaps. If your site already has one installed and configured, we'll usually keep it rather than switch.

Settings fixes, such as a site wrongly set to discourage search engines, can show within weeks once Google recrawls. Content and link work usually takes a few months, and competitive searches longer. Your monthly report shows rankings, traffic and enquiries, so you can see progress before it shows up in your sales.

Usually not. Most WordPress sites can be fixed with settings, plugin and content changes. A rebuild makes sense when the theme is unsupported, very slow or impossible to edit. If that's your site, our Standard website package (10 to 25 pages, $6,500 + GST) includes SEO plug-ins, and we'll explain why before you spend anything.

Not for SEO. Our SEO plans run month to month with no lock-in contract and no exit fee, reviewed with you each month. Website care plans are different: they have a 6-month minimum, because updates and backups only protect you if they keep running. Your account manager explains both before you sign anything.
