WooCommerce web design for stores built on WordPress

WooCommerce web design for Australian businesses that want an online store inside a WordPress site they own, with the checkout tested before launch.

WooCommerce web design for stores that live inside WordPress

Rock Solid Marketing designs and builds WooCommerce online stores for Australian businesses, from our office in Mildura. WooCommerce turns a WordPress website into a shop, so products, cart and checkout sit beside your pages and articles.

Maybe you already run WordPress and want to sell without starting again. Or your products need explaining, with guides, care instructions or specifications a plain catalogue can’t hold. Either way, a good WooCommerce web designer starts with your range and your checkout, not the colour palette.

Stores start from $6,000 + GST on our E-commerce package. If Shopify suits the way you want to run the store, we’ll tell you before we quote.

Why WooCommerce

WooCommerce web development built around your range

WooCommerce suits stores that want content, control and a site they own. These are the parts we set up so it sells from the first day.

One dashboard for everything

Products, orders, pages and articles share the same WordPress login. Your team learns one system, and a new product can link straight to the guide that explains it.

A checkout tested before launch

Payment gateway, shipping zones and GST settings are set up together, then checked with test orders. Customers see the full price, freight included, before they pay.

Your own hosting

WooCommerce runs on your own hosting, with no platform subscription for the core plug-in. Our hosting starts from $400 + GST a year, and the store can move hosts later without a rebuild.

Extensions chosen with care

Every extension adds a cost, an update to run and a thing that can break. We add only what the store needs, and list any paid ones in your quote.

Room for content

WordPress was built for publishing, so recipes, how-to guides and buying advice sit naturally beside products. That helps stores whose products need explaining before people buy.

Updates that don’t stop sales

WordPress, WooCommerce and each extension update on their own schedules. On Premium care, $549 + GST a month, store and payment settings are part of the monthly work.

How it works

How we build a WooCommerce store

Five steps, from the first call to a store your team can run on its own.

  1. Discovery call

A free 30-minute call about your range, how you take payment, where you ship and whether WooCommerce is the right platform at all.

  2. Store plan

We map categories, product details, shipping zones and the payment gateway, and list every extension with its cost before the build starts.

  3. Design and build

Saimul builds the store on a staging copy. You review the design in rounds and see real product pages, not placeholders.

  4. Products and test orders

Your starting range goes in, then we place test orders through every payment and shipping option until each one works.

  5. Launch and training

The store goes live, your team learns products and orders, and we stay on hand through the follow-up support period.

An honest comparison

WooCommerce website design or Shopify: which fits

Both platforms run good Australian stores. WooCommerce gives you control: your hosting, your data and a site that can hold as much content as you like. In return, someone has to run its updates and choose its extensions well.

Shopify bundles hosting, security and updates into a monthly subscription, and many features come as paid apps. It suits owners who want fewer moving parts. Exposed Signage and Apparel had already chosen Shopify, so we rebuilt its store there. Our WooCommerce web design work starts with the same question: which platform will you still be happy running in three years?

  • WooCommerce: you already use WordPress
  • WooCommerce: products need guides and articles
  • WooCommerce: you want your own hosting and data
  • Shopify: you want hosting and updates bundled
  • Shopify: a simple range and little content

Pick the platform you’ll still want to run in three years.

We approached Rock Solid Marketing to build our online store for our retail division and to look after our existing website. The professionalism of Sean and his team from day one was incredible, they took the time to sit down with us to discuss our exact requirements and they offered suggestions for the build which would improve the overall running of the store.

The finished result of our online store is nothing short of fantastic- it integrates with our point of sale software, it is very easy to navigate, and presents and operates as a professionally made web store should. Since completion and hand over, the back up support we receive from Rock Solid Marketing is remarkable- nothing is too much trouble and we can contact the team at any time with any questions we may have. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Sean, Janine and the team from Rock Solid Marketing for building or revamping a website, creating an online store to suit your business or with online marketing.

Web Design With WordPress

At Rock Solid Marketing, we use WordPress for our website design projects. WordPress? But isn’t that, like, for blogs? Fair question. In its early years, WordPress was essentially a blogging platform. But now, it’s become a fully featured content management system that allows you to build fairly complex websites. Our WooCommerce stores start from $6,000 + GST on the E-commerce package, or 6 monthly payments of $1,000 + GST. That covers the store, cart and payment gateway. Budget for running costs too: hosting from $400 + GST a year, any paid extensions, and the payment provider’s fees on each sale. You get a fixed quote after the discovery call.

WooCommerce is a free, open-source plug-in that adds an online store to a WordPress website. It handles products, the cart, checkout and orders, while WordPress handles your pages and articles. Extensions add features such as subscriptions, bookings or extra payment options. Because it runs on your own hosting, you control the site and its data.

The plug-in is free to download; running a store isn’t. You still pay for hosting, a domain and an SSL certificate, plus any paid extensions or premium theme you choose. Payment providers charge a fee on each transaction. A fair quote lists all of those running costs, not just the build.

Install WordPress on your hosting, add the WooCommerce plug-in, then set the store’s currency, GST, shipping zones and payment gateway. Next comes a theme, your categories and products, and test orders through every payment option. The set-up is quick. Getting shipping rules and product pages right takes most of the time.

A great many: it’s one of the most widely used ecommerce systems on the web. Usage trackers such as W3Techs and BuiltWith publish live counts, and their figures differ and change month to month. Check their sites for a current number rather than trusting one quoted on an agency page.

When you want hosting, security and updates handled inside one monthly subscription. Shopify suits simple ranges, owners with little time for upkeep, and stores that don’t need much content. WooCommerce suits businesses already on WordPress, or ones that want full control. We build on both, and we’ll recommend one before we quote.

Usually both, working together. WooCommerce web designers shape the pages people shop on, while WooCommerce website developers set up checkout, extensions, speed and integrations. A WooCommerce development agency should cover both. At Rock Solid Marketing, Saimul Islam builds the store and Lindsay Buckley brings 15+ years of SEO and WordPress experience.

Several times a year, because WordPress, WooCommerce and each extension release updates separately. Most are small, but an untested update can break the checkout on a busy day. Our Premium care plan, $549 + GST a month with a 6-month minimum, covers store and payment settings, an SEO health check and a monthly call.

Often, yes, through an extension or a custom connection. Popular accounting and inventory systems have WooCommerce connectors, though quality varies. We check the one you use during the store plan and quote any integration separately. Our Advanced package includes email marketing integration and a CRM automation database for bigger sites.
