Tourism website design that carries the planner to the booking

Rock Solid Marketing designs and builds websites for tour operators, attractions and experiences across Australia, from our office in Mildura. We rebuilt the website for Tristate Tours, a small-group Outback tour company in Broken Hill, with 9 tour pages, 36 travel posts and its WeTravel bookings carried across.

A tour is a big purchase made by someone who's never been there. They read the itinerary twice, check the dates, look at the photos and come back a week later. Your website has to hold their attention across all of those visits, then make booking the obvious next step.

Website packages start from $5,000 + GST for up to 5 pages; most tour sites with several itineraries fit Standard, from $6,500 + GST. The first step is a free 30-minute discovery call. If better tour pages on your current site would do the job, we'll say so before we quote.

Common problems

What gets in the way, and how we fix it

  1. Every tour sits on one long page, so planners can't compare them.

    What we do

We split them into one page per tour, so planners can compare routes, inclusions, dates and prices. The booking button stays in view as they scroll.

  2. You worry a new site will break your bookings and lose your Google rankings.

    What we do

We keep your booking platform, list every old page address and redirect each one. On Tristate Tours, 24 redirect rules cover the old addresses, checked again after launch.

  3. Your travel stories are buried, so hardly anyone reads them.

    What we do

Posts are grouped by trip and linked from the matching tour pages. A reader of a story about Lake Eyre can go straight to the Lake Eyre tour.

What goes on a tour site

Travel website design built around the itinerary

Website design for tourism has one test: can a first-time visitor understand the trip, trust the operator and book a seat without ringing to ask?

Tour pages that answer everything

Route, day-by-day itinerary, inclusions, what to bring, departure dates and price, all on one page. Tristate's Lake Eyre air tour page shows the price card, route map, packages and departures together.

Your booking platform, kept

We keep the booking platform you already use and link it from every tour page. Tristate Tours kept WeTravel through its rebuild, so bookings carried on through the move.

A design you choose

For Tristate Tours we designed 10 home page sections in five styles each, and the team picked one of each. The finished site looks like their business, not a template.

Travel stories that sell trips

Posts about the places you visit, linked to the tours that go there, so a reader can move from a story to a booking. Tristate's 36 travel posts all moved across in its rebuild.

Moves without lost pages

When you change websites, we list every page, post, image, form and link on the old site. Each one gets a new home, and we check the addresses again after launch.

Built for planning on a phone

Planners browse on phones and book on whatever's handy. Pages stay light, photos are sized for mobile, and the booking button stays within reach on a small screen.

How it works

From the first call to launch day

Four stages, with your feedback built in before anything goes live.

  1. Discovery call

A free 30-minute call to scope your pages, features and budget against our website packages.

  2. Design and feedback

We design the site around your brand and content, with rounds of feedback along the way. Essentials includes three rounds.

  3. Build and launch

We build on a content management system you can update yourself, set up the search basics and test the site on phones and desktops.

  4. Hosting and care

Keep the site secure and up to date with Australian hosting from $400 + GST a year and a care plan from $275 + GST a month (minimum 6 months).

How it starts

Tourism web design, from your tour list to launch

We start with your tours, your booking platform and your current site. We list every tour with its route, dates, inclusions and price. We also list every page, post, image and form on the old site, so nothing is lost in the move.

You approve the page list and choose the design section by section before we build. We test every booking link and redirect before launch, then check the old addresses again afterwards.

  • Every tour, its route, dates and price
  • Your booking platform and how it links
  • Every old page, post, image and form
  • Redirects for the old addresses
  • Travel stories matched to tours

Nothing lost, and every tour easier to book.

Are You Making These Website Mistakes?

Unless you’re a web design professional, your website probably isn’t 100% technically “perfect”. That’s totally normal, because let’s be honest: you’ve probably got a million other things to focus on. So we’re going to make it easy for you by sharing a few mistakes that many (if not most) people are making with their websites.

Our Essentials package costs $5,000 + GST for up to 5 pages, which suits an operator with one or two tours. You can also pay it over 6 months at $833 + GST. Operators running several itineraries usually need Standard: $6,500 + GST for 10 to 25 pages. Moving a large blog from an old site is extra, estimated at $175 + GST an hour.

No. A website is where the booking happens, but planners find you through Google, ATDW listings, social media, booking sites and word of mouth. The website's job is to turn that interest into a booking. Our tourism marketing plans cover the rest, from $4,500 + GST a month.

For a single operator, a clear website tends to lift bookings more than visitor numbers. It can't create demand for a region on its own, but it decides whether the people already looking choose you. Tour pages that answer questions and a booking button that works are where that shows.

Not if the move is planned. We list every old page and post, give each one a new home and redirect the old address to it. On the Tristate Tours rebuild, we checked 116 old addresses after launch. Rankings can wobble for a few weeks after any move, so we watch them closely.

Yes, in most cases. We link or embed the platform you already use, so your availability, payments and customer records stay where they are. Tristate Tours kept WeTravel through its rebuild. Changing booking platforms is a separate decision, and we can talk it through on the discovery call.

Mostly in the product. Travel web design often covers trips run by other operators, while a tourism site sells your own tours or attraction. The building blocks are the same: itinerary pages, dates and prices, booking links and stories that make people want to go.

Platform sites are quick, but they look like every other operator on the platform and you rarely control the search setup. Tailored website design for Australian tourism businesses means your own pages, your own story and search work on your terms, with the platform still taking the bookings.

Yes. Good web design tourism operators can manage turns tours, dates and posts into simple forms in the editor. We show your team how to add a departure or a new story. If you'd rather not, website care plans from $275 + GST a month cover updates, backups and security.
