Accounting firm website design for Australian practices: a page for each service, tax-time booking and forms that never ask for a TFN.

Websites for practices

Accounting firm website design that works like your front counter

Rock Solid Marketing provides accounting firm website design for practices across Australia: websites that send each visitor to the right service and keep sensitive details off the site, built from our Mildura office.

Think about who lands on your site in July. Someone who needs a tax return by October. A café owner whose BAS is overdue. A couple asking about an SMSF. If they all land on one page called Services, most of them ring reception to ask if you do what they need, or they don’t ring at all.

We’ve done work for accounting practices before, though we don’t name them here. Website packages start from $5,000 + GST, or 6 monthly payments of $833 + GST, and every build starts with a free 30-minute discovery call. Your site can also sit inside a wider plan for marketing your practice.

Common problems

What gets in the way, and how we fix it

  1. Our enquiry form gets tax file numbers, bank details and scanned payslips typed straight into it.

    What we do

Forms ask only for a name, contact details and the service needed. A note tells clients to send documents through your practice’s secure portal, and the site links to it.

  2. Every tax season the phone rings with the same three questions.

    What we do

A tax return page answers them: what to bring, how long it takes and how to book. Online booking for tax appointments takes the rest off reception.

  3. Our site says we do everything, so it says nothing to anyone.

    What we do

Each service line gets its own page, written for the person who needs it: individuals, sole traders, companies, trusts and SMSF trustees.

What every practice site gets

Accounting website design that sorts visitors by service

A practice website should answer three questions fast: do you do what I need, who will I deal with, and how do I book?

A page for each service

Individual tax returns, business tax and BAS, bookkeeping, SMSF and advisory each get a page written for that client. Good accounting web design lets a sole trader find their answer without reading about trusts.

Sensitive details off the site

Under the Privacy Act’s tax file number rules, TFNs need careful handling. Our forms never ask for one. Documents go through the secure client portal you already use, and the site links to it.

Booking for tax time

Clients book a tax appointment online and get a checklist of what to bring. In the busy months, that means fewer calls to reception and fewer appointments rescheduled.

Registration people can check

Your Tax Practitioners Board registration number sits in the footer, so clients can check it on the TPB register. Staff profiles list CA, CPA or IPA membership only where you confirm it.

Clear on a phone

Most people check an accountant between other jobs, on their phone. Pages load fast, the phone number is one tap away and fee information is easy to find.

Ready for search

Each service page gets its own title, description and AccountingService structured data at launch. For ongoing work on rankings, our SEO plans for accountants pick up from there.

Who it’s for

Is it the right fit?

Who it’s for

  • Suburban and regional practices with a dated or DIY site
  • Practices adding advisory, SMSF or bookkeeping services
  • Partners leaving a larger firm to start their own practice
  • Merged practices that need one site for two client lists

Not a fit

  • Practices wanting tax documents uploaded through the website: your portal does that job better
  • Firms after a template site they’ll set up themselves
  • Practices that only need their Google profile fixed: a Google Business Profile set-up is $500 + GST

How it works

From the first call to launch day

Four stages, with your feedback built in before anything goes live.

  1. Discovery call

A free 30-minute call to scope your pages, features and budget against our website packages.

  2. Design and feedback

We design the site around your brand and content, with rounds of feedback along the way. Essentials includes three rounds.

  3. Build and launch

We build on a content management system you can update yourself, set up the search basics and test the site on phones and desktops.

  4. Hosting and care

Keep the site secure and up to date with Australian hosting from $400 + GST a year and a care plan from $275 + GST a month (minimum 6 months).

How a build runs

Web design for accountants, planned around tax time

We start with your client list, not a template: which services bring in the most work, who books what, and which questions reception answers every week. Then we map one page per service and agree who writes what. The packages assume you supply the content, and copywriting can be added.

We plan launches away from your busiest weeks, so nobody is approving pages in the last days before the October lodgement deadline. A partner signs off every page before it goes live. If a tidy-up of the site you have will do, we’ll tell you before we quote.

  • Service lines mapped to pages
  • Forms checked so they never ask for a TFN
  • Client portal and booking links tested
  • Designs for desktop and phone
  • Launch timed outside your busiest weeks

Built in the quiet months, ready for the busy ones.

We approached Rock Solid Marketing to build our online store for our retail division and to look after our existing website. The professionalism of Sean and his team from day one was incredible, they took the time to sit down with us to discuss our exact requirements and they offered suggestions for the build which would improve the overall running of the store.

The finished result of our online store is nothing short of fantastic- it integrates with our point of sale software, it is very easy to navigate, and presents and operates as a professionally made web store should. Since completion and hand over, the back up support we receive from Rock Solid Marketing is remarkable- nothing is too much trouble and we can contact the team at any time with any questions we may have. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Sean, Janine and the team from Rock Solid Marketing for building or revamping a website, creating an online store to suit your business or with online marketing.

A practice website with us starts from $5,000 + GST on Essentials, which suits up to 5 pages. Most practices with several service lines and staff profiles fit Standard, from $6,500 + GST for 10 to 25 pages. Online booking usually adds a few hours at $175 + GST an hour, so our estimate is about $7,000 to $8,000 + GST. You get a fixed quote after the discovery call.

Generally yes, though usually over time rather than all at once. The ATO’s ruling TR 2016/3 treats building a business website as a capital cost, often claimed as in-house software over several years. Small businesses may be able to write it off sooner. You’ll know your own position better than we do, and we don’t give tax advice.

Usually, yes. Under the same ATO ruling, running costs such as hosting, care plans and small content updates are generally deductible in the year you pay them. A redesign that adds new functions can count as capital again. Keeping the build and the running costs on separate invoices makes that split easier to show.

A page for each service, profiles of the people clients will meet, your TPB registration number, clear contact details and a way to book. Add a fees page if you publish fixed prices for returns. Leave out forms that collect TFNs or documents, and link to your secure client portal instead.

It depends mostly on how fast content and approvals come back. Essentials includes 3 rounds of feedback, and most of the waiting is for page wording and partner sign-off. That’s why we plan builds for the quieter months after the October lodgement rush, so your team has time to review.

We recommend they don’t. A website form isn’t the place for payslips, bank statements or TFNs. Your practice software’s client portal is built for that, with logins and records of who sent what. We link to it from every service page and your contact page, so clients find it in one click.

Yes. Standard and Advanced include a WordPress user manual, so your team can add news, change fees and update staff profiles. For bigger changes, upfront hours are $175 + GST an hour in blocks of 3 or 5. Accountant web design that only the agency can update gets out of date by the next tax season.

You get follow-up support: 2 weeks on Essentials, 4 on Standard and 8 on Advanced, with 12 months’ hosting included. After that, care plans start from $275 + GST a month, minimum 6 months, and cover updates, backups and security checks. Good accounting firm web design is never really finished, so plan who keeps it current.
