Social Media Management

Social media audit: what’s working and what isn’t

A social media audit for Australian businesses that want to know what’s working on their pages, what isn’t and what to fix first.

Social media audit

A social media audit that ends in a list of fixes, not a pile of charts

Rock Solid Marketing provides social media audit services for businesses across Australia, from our Mildura office: a one-off review of your Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and other pages, with a written report on what to fix. You post most weeks and might boost the odd post. But you can’t say which posts bring enquiries, who still has admin access, or why a competitor’s page gets more comments.

We look at your pages the way a customer and a competitor would, then check the numbers in each platform’s own insights. You get a report that ranks the fixes: what to do now, what to do this month and what to stop doing.

Audits are billed at $175 + GST an hour, and we quote the hours before we start. If a quick look during the free discovery call answers your question, we’ll tell you before we quote.

What we check

A social media marketing audit, platform by platform

We review each platform you use and the accounts behind it, then compare you with the businesses your customers also follow.

Profile and page check

Your bio, profile photo, links, hours and contact details, checked against your website and Google Business Profile. A small mismatch, such as an old phone number, can cost you a call from someone ready to buy.

Admin access and ownership

We list who has admin access to your pages and ad account in Meta’s business settings and on LinkedIn. Former staff or an old agency still holding the keys gets flagged, so your business owns its own pages.

Performance from real insights

We pull reach, engagement and clicks from Meta Business Suite and LinkedIn page analytics, then find which formats and topics earn saves, shares and messages. Likes alone don’t tell you much.

Posting rhythm and mix

How often you post, on which days, and how your feed splits between offers, tips, people and behind the scenes. Long gaps and a run of sales posts both show up clearly in the review.

Competitor social media audit

We compare your pages with 2 or 3 competitors your customers also follow: what they post, how often, what people respond to, and the ads they’re running in Meta’s Ad Library.

Ads and tracking check

If you run ads, we check the ad account, the Meta Pixel and recent campaigns: what you spent, what it brought in, and whether tracking records enquiries rather than just page views.

Who it’s for

Is it the right fit?

Who it’s for

  • Businesses that have posted for months without knowing what works
  • New owners or managers taking over someone else’s pages
  • Owners deciding between doing social media in-house or hiring help

Not a fit

  • Anyone wanting more followers promised from a report
  • Brand-new pages with no history: start with a plan instead
  • Locked-out accounts: Meta’s own support handles recovery

How it works

How we run your audit

You give us view access, we do the digging, and you get answers in a report and a call.

  1. Free discovery call

Tell us which platforms you use, what worries you about them and who your competitors are. We quote the audit hours on the call or soon after.

  2. View access

You give us view-only access to your pages, insights and ad account, so we can see the numbers without changing anything.

  3. Review and report

We check each platform, compare 2 or 3 competitors and write the report, with every fix ranked by how much it matters.

  4. Walk-through call

We take you through the findings, answer your questions and agree who makes each fix: your team or ours.

The report

A report you can act on the same week

Every social media page audit we do ends with a written report in plain English. It opens with a one-page summary of the fixes that matter most, then goes platform by platform with screenshots of what we found.

Then the social media audit specialist who did the work walks you through it, on a video call or at our Mildura office by booking. Consistency is often the first fix: when we managed social media for Broken Hill Truck Centre, one tone across its three locations strengthened the brand in all of them.

  • A one-page summary of the top fixes
  • Platform-by-platform findings with screenshots
  • A side-by-side competitor comparison
  • A list of who has access to what
  • Fixes ranked: now, this month, stop

All FAQs

Our audits are billed at $175 + GST an hour, and we quote the hours before we start. As an estimate, 2 platforms with 2 or 3 competitors take about 4 to 8 hours, or about $700 to $1,400 + GST. More platforms, an ad account or more competitors add hours; a single platform takes fewer.

A social media audit is a review of your business’s social media pages to see what works, what doesn’t and what to fix. It covers profiles, access, posting habits, content performance and competitors, using each platform’s own insights. A good one ends with a short list of practical fixes, not just charts.

Social media auditing is checking your pages against your goals on a regular schedule, not just once. We suggest a full audit once a year, plus a lighter check when staff change, you launch something new or results drop. On our social media plans, the monthly results meeting covers that lighter check.

Start by listing every account your business has and who holds admin access. Then check each profile’s details, export 3 months of posts with their reach and engagement, and note which formats and topics did best. Finish by looking at 2 or 3 competitors and writing down your 3 most useful fixes.

We run it in 4 steps: a discovery call, view access, the review and report, then a walk-through call. You approve the quoted hours before we start, and nothing on your pages changes during the audit. Your report is written in plain English, with screenshots of what we found.

A good audit covers profiles, admin access, posting rhythm, content performance, competitors and, if you advertise, your ads and tracking. Ours also checks reviews and comment replies, because a slow reply is visible to every customer. Most of all, it should end with ranked fixes, so you know what to do first.

Yes, a Facebook audit of your ads is included when you run them. We check the ad account, the Meta Pixel, recent campaigns and what each cost per result, and whether tracking records enquiries rather than page views. If you want help afterwards, our Meta ads packages start from $2,000 + GST a month plus 10% of ad spend.

No, the audit stands on its own and the report is yours to keep. Your own team can make the fixes. Or we can, at the hourly rate or on a social media management plan from $1,500 + GST a month. If you’re comparing a social media audit agency with a freelancer, ask whether the report ranks the fixes.
