Copywriting services for Australian businesses

Copywriting services for brochures, tenders, award submissions and emails, written plainly by people with journalism backgrounds.

Copywriting

Copywriting services for the words that win work

Rock Solid Marketing provides copywriting services to businesses and organisations across Australia, from our Mildura office. We write what buyers, judges and journalists read: brochures, capability statements, award submissions, advertorials, emails and press releases. You may have the facts in your head and a deadline on the calendar, but nobody with a free day to write.

You brief us by phone, video call or at our office. A writer with a journalism background drafts the piece in plain Australian English, you mark it up, and we revise it. Nothing is padded to reach a word count.

Copywriting is $175 + GST an hour, quoted before we start. Press releases have their own package from $1,000 + GST, which includes distribution to journalists.

What we write

A copywriting agency for brochures, bids and media

Whichever copywriting service you need, your reader usually has a decision to make: a buyer, a funding panel, an awards judge or an editor.

Brochures and advertorials

We write copy that fits the panels and the page, so a DL brochure or a half-page advertorial says one thing clearly. Our designers can lay it out, so the words and the design are planned together.

Award submissions

Award criteria reward evidence, not adjectives. We interview your team, find the proof behind each criterion and write to the judges’ word limits. We wrote Alivio Park’s first awards submission, and the project page tells that story.

Capability statements and tenders

Councils, government buyers and larger companies want to know who you are, what you’ve delivered and why you’re safe to hire. We write capability statements and tender responses that answer in the order they ask.

Emails and newsletters

Sales emails, welcome emails and newsletters written to be read on a phone, with one clear action each. Marketing emails need the reader’s consent under the Spam Act 2003, so we write for lists you’ve built properly.

Press releases editors can use

Andrew Mevissen worked as a reporter with major newspapers in Sydney and Melbourne. He writes releases the way editors want them: the news first, quotes that sound like a person, and facts a journalist can check.

Scripts and presentations

Emma Sutcliffe turns a brief into a polished script and complex ideas into short, clear pieces. That covers video scripts, speeches and the words on your presentation slides.

Staff and public messages

When a change affects staff and customers, both should hear the same message. For Southern Cross Care’s relaunch in Broken Hill, we wrote the internal and external communications together.

How it works

How a copywriting job works with us

Four steps from the first call to copy you can print, publish or send.

  1. Free discovery call

A 30-minute call about what you need written, who will read it and your deadline, so we can tell you whether we’re the right writers.

  2. Brief and quote

We agree the reader, the goal and the facts, then quote the job in hours at $175 + GST an hour before any writing starts.

  3. Draft and revise

A writer drafts the piece, flags anything we can’t verify, and revises from your mark-up until you approve the final copy.

  4. Hand over

You get final copy ready for your designer, website or printer, or our designers lay it out for you at the same hourly rate.

How a job runs

How our copywriters go from brief to final draft

Every job starts with a brief: who will read it, what you want them to do and the facts we can prove. For bigger pieces, such as award submissions and capability statements, we interview you and the people who did the work. The best evidence is usually in someone’s head, not in a folder.

We quote the hours before we start. The first draft comes back with notes on anything we couldn’t verify, then you mark it up and we revise. Every piece is checked against your own facts, so nothing goes out that you can’t back up.

  • A written brief: reader, goal and proof
  • Interviews for submissions and statements
  • Hours quoted before writing starts
  • A first draft with open questions flagged
  • Your edits, then a final proofread

Clear words, checked facts, no padding.

Our copywriting is $175 + GST an hour, and you get a quote in hours before we start. Press releases have their own package from $1,000 + GST, covering writing and distribution to journalists. Regular monthly writing sits in our partnership plans from $4,500 + GST a month. If a quick edit of your own draft will do, we’ll tell you before we quote.

Copywriting is writing that asks the reader to do something: call, buy, book, donate or shortlist you. It covers brochures, ads, emails, websites, tenders and award submissions. Good copy is clear before it’s clever, because the reader usually has a decision to make and little time to make it.

A copywriter works out who the reader is and what you want them to do, then writes the words that get them there. Day to day, our copywriters interview clients, research the facts, draft, take feedback and fit the copy to a layout or word limit. The writing itself is often the shortest part of the job.

Copywriters charge by the hour, by the project, by the word or on a monthly retainer. Hourly and project quotes suit one-off jobs like a brochure or a capability statement, while a retainer suits regular writing. When you compare a copywriter in Australia, compare the total quote for the same job, not the headline rate.

We don’t charge per word. Per-word pricing rewards long copy, while most brochures, ads and emails work better short. A tight advertorial can take more research than a long article. We quote in hours instead, so the price reflects the work involved, not how many words end up on the page.

Yes. For regular writing, such as a monthly newsletter, articles and social captions, you can outsource copywriting through a partnership plan. Plans start from $4,500 + GST a month for 28 hours. Those hours also cover planning, design and reporting. If you only need a few pieces a year, one-off jobs at $175 + GST an hour cost less.

Yes. Our content copywriting services cover articles, newsletters and social captions, usually as part of a monthly content marketing plan. For a full set of new website pages, our website copywriting service plans the pages and messages with our web designers. One-off articles are quoted at $175 + GST an hour.

Yes, that’s what the brief is for. Our copywriter services start by asking how you talk to customers, which words you use and which you avoid, and reading what you’ve already published. You then mark up the first draft, so the final version sounds like you on a good day.
